Tzatziki (Greek Cucumber Yogurt Dip)

Tzatziki is a Greek meze (appetizer), also used as a sauce for souvlaki and gyros. It is usually made with strained yogurt. This is my version of tzatziki. It is fast and packs a big punch of flavor.


  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 small seedless cucumber, peeled and grated
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 sprigs fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • juice of half a lemon
  • salt, freshly ground black pepper to taste


Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.  Refrigerate for at least an hour to allow the flavors to blend. Serve as a dipping sauce with fresh veggies or pita wedges.
